Sirena Wang Interview

Thank you Sirena for the lightening fast reply!!

1) Why did you decide to participate in the MIss NY pageant?

I've been living in the South for so long, and I want to see what's the life like up in NY.  Since I want to go elsewhere for graduate school anyway, perhaps around NY area, I thought by competing in Miss NY Pageant would be a wonderful opportunity.  I don't get to see many asian people in the South, I really want to see what's their life like in NY, and hopefully I will learn more about Chinese culture and learn more about myself by competing in Miss NY Chinese 2006.

2) You do quite a number of sports in school, how did you manage your time?

Well, I take one thing at a time.  Although the schedule is very full everyday, all of my jobs is different from one another.  So I'm not bored at all, it's quite interesting to jump from class to sport to piano everyday.  I enjoy everything that I'm doing very much!

3) When did you start taking vocal and piano lessons?

I've been taking piano lessons since age of 7, I just studied voice for a little over a year.  I love music, and I can't live without a piano.

4) What was going through your head when you were announced the winner of the Miss NY pageant?

Quite honestly, i wasn't thinking about anything.  It was like 3 something in the morning, my brain doesn't function around that time, I don't know about yours.  :)  Since I've already received 3 individual awards previously, I was very content at that moment already.

5) You recently flew to HK for the Miss Chinese International 2007 pageant, how was the experience over all?

It was amazing! Although all of us are sooooo tired by the end, we are on the go from early morning to mid-night at least everyday.  But it was so much fun!!   Best experience ever!! I'll cherish it for lifetime!

6) Who were you closest with in the Miss Chinese International 2007 pageant?

I have so many, for example:  Miss Cai Ling (Singapore), Novel (Kuala Lumpur), Cindy (Auckland), Carol (Pearl River), Susana (Vancouver), Aimee (HK), Ming (Chicago), Chinzy (Rotterdam)...etc.  I love them all!

7) What was going through your head when you were announced the winner of the Audience award in MCI07?

I was double checking in my head if they did for real announced my name, because I don't understand much Cantonese.  ;)

8) What was going through your head again when you were announced one of the top 10 contestants in MCI07?

Very happy, yet very little time to really think about it, because it is a show, the majority of my time was making sure my clothes was all right, look at the camera, audience, smile..etc.

9) What else was going through your head when you were announced 1 of the top 5 contestants?

Very satisfied, yet again, I had to change into my talent custom, and perform my talent in 1.5 mins.

10) Do you think training for Miss Chinese NY or MCI is more intense?

Well, for Miss Chinese NY we had over 1 month of training, and it was only part of the day for 1.5 month of training.  In MCI, we had only close to 3 weeks of time, and it was over 2/3 of a day of training/shooting for 3 weeks.  Of course MCI is more intense, but it's all for the final show; Miss Chinese NY is the real training for a pageant competition.

11) Who is your all time favorite Miss Chinese International winner?
I don't have one.  I wish your question was -  who is my all time favorite musician. :)  It's Beethoven!
