Miss Chinese Tahiti 2006 + MCI07 Contestant

1) Why did you decide to participate in the Miss Chinese Tahiti Pageant?

At the time, I had just come back from Australia where I studied for 6 years
and I was looking for a job. People I met (when I was looking for work),
family members I hadn't seen for years, encouraged me to participate in the
pageant. I was unsure about getting employed so I thought that if I got my
name out, it might be easier for me to start a private practice in nutrition
consultancy. I also thought it would be a great opportunity to learn more
about the chinese culture within our Polynesian community.

2) What was going through your head when you were announced the winner of
Miss Chinese Tahiti?

I felt funny. When they annouced the 2nd runner-up, I thought it was me
because her last name sounds a lot like mine, then I went... doh, it's not
me ! Miss Chinese Tahiti is one of the big pageants in Tahiti and I couldn't
dream of winning it. I had mixed feelings when they announced my name: all
the girls worked so hard and I felt that everybody should have got a prize.

3) You recently flew to HK for the Miss Chinese International 2007 pageant.
how was the experience?

Very tiring, a lot of waiting around, nothing like I would have imagined.
But the girls I've met there made it all worthwhile !

4) Who were you closest with during the MCI pageant?

Mostly the girls who spoke English, Cailing, Yvonne, Ming, Louise, Sarah,
Tina, Cindy... But everybody got along well ; the girls from China, even
though they didn't speak much English (and I only know so many words in
chinese) were awesome (Carol and YingYing), so sweet.

5) What was your most memorable moment during the pageant?

Standing in the freezing cold outside the studio before the pageant. We were
clenching our teeth, I was shivering because it was that cold ! But I really
enjoyed the swimwuit section, it happened so fast, no time to get nervous,
especially when parading in swimsuits. It was a great idea to have us move
around so fast, very energetic !
6) Who is your all time favorite Miss Chinese International winner?

The only one I know: Sarah, with whom I got along very well because she's
got an awesome personality, she's really nice, she kept giving out lollies.
From my experience, Australians are genuine people, I'm really happy she won
and I wish her all the best.
