1) Why did you decide to participate in the Miss Chinese Melborne pageant?
Being a typical girl, I just wanted to experience a pageant and add to my life experiences at a fresh 18. Also I thought
it would be great fun to learn new makeup techniques, catwalk etc. whilst at the same time giving myself a new challenge.
There are many things that I would like to tick off before I pass the age limit and the Miss Chinese Melbourne pageant was
one of them.
2)What was going through your head when you were announced the winner of Miss Chinese Melbourne Peageant?
It was because I was just announced Miss Photogenic, I was already quite content and trying to keep a good smile for
the cameras. When they just announced my number and name, I didn't quite register for a few seconds until my brain finally
double checked that contestant number three was me! Then suddenly remembering what the winner had to do, I took off for the
final walk and wave around the stage.
3) You recently flew to HK for MCI07, what were the ups and downs?
There were lots of ups but all seemed to be impeded by the down of lack of sleep. We were on a really tight schedule
and on average I only had 4-5 hours of sleep every night. During the pageant, any extra hour of sleep was something
to look forward. But looking back, the whole experience was amazing, working close with 'infernal affairs' stars, photo shooting,
video shooting and going into recording rooms... It really gave me more insight into the entertainment industry.
4) Who were you closest with during the Miss Chinese International pageant?
I was closest to with the girls with numbers near me I guess as we spent the most time together, waiting for video shooting,
makeup n hair. All those hours of chatting and having each other's company made us really good friends. But all the girls
have different and amazing backgrounds and it was a rare opportunity to meet all these girls from different countries in the
one spot and share the same experience through MCI. A memory to last a life time. I now have them all on my msn and chat with
them regularly.
5) What was your favorite segment in MCI07?
Definitely, the Chinese opera and Kong Fu section. It is unique to be a part of a beauty pageant and showed
a feminity that is different from the tradtional sense. Girls doing what boys normally do best actually make
it more graceful and shows a broad spectrum of the female trait. It also shows the different forms of beauty that a female
can present. It was also the only section that gave each girl their own time to perform and was a good section for the audience
to get to know each contestant better.
6) What are the differences between MCM and MCI?
MCI has more emphasis on the Cantonese language and MCM was easier on those who didn't speak Cantonese. MCI was a lot
more intensive than MCM for many obvious reasons. One is an international competition and one is a local one, so naturally
the friendships made was more diverse.
7) Who is your time favorite Miss Chinese International winner?
I have never heard of MCI before I entered the MCM, so I don't actually know any of the winners!
